At the Council we have done a lot of work with Bechtel and have been continuously impressed with their taking a systems (country-wide) approach to their thinking. The challenges in Africa are immense and they have achieved remarkable success in terms of using local resources to complete their work, thus stimulating economic development where they have projects.
In Gabon, on the west coast of Africa, a large percentage of those between the ages of 16 and 24 are unemployed. Council Lead Partner Bechtel and Junior Achievement launched a program to engage young people and to teach them practical business skills.
